Activity Recap

On Saturday, 12/9/06, we combined events for an extremely enjoyable first!

We were fortunate enough to have secured an unbelievabally beautiful private venue for the
event. The night began with Todd showing his coveted  (
Battlestar Galactica) DVD to a
full-house..snacks, drinks and a beautifully decorated setting were the backdrop. For those not
watching
BSG, conversation flowed on the other side of the room. Dinner was provided by Todd -
great pizza, in several different choices, from Sonny & Tony's.

At around 6:20, we cleaned up, arranged chairs and began preparing for our guest speaker -
folklorist
S.E. Schlosser. Ms. Schlosser has a series of books called the Spooky Series that
chronicle and record lore from various states (
Spooky NJ, Spooky NY, Spooky South, Spooky
New England
, etc.). We were in for a treat! Ms. Schlosser used an age-old tradition of story-telling
to entertain us with several stories from her books. With dimmed lights, and a hushed audience,
she began the tales. A demonic encounter that chilled your spine, a haunted bowl that danced, a
mischievous ghost playing pranks, were but a few of the entertaining stories. Ms. Schlosser is a
natural-born story-teller! At the completion of her presentation, our guest was so enjoying herself
that she stayed and hung out with the group.

We took a few minutes to honor our hard-working moderators with small tokens of appreciation.
Our moderators work hard, try to keep this unruly bunch entertained and never complain! Really!
We couldn't do it without them and wanted them to know that we appreciate each and every one
of them.  Kudos guys.

Snacks, dessert and coffee followed. Conversation continued and was lively and varied. We
regretfully wrapped up the evening approaching 1am - very regretfully. This was a great idea and
will be our tradition from now on. The holiday dinner will include a guest, food, fun and friends.
