Will this be another "happy" holiday movie from Chris with death and mayhem? You'll have to
show up to find out. Join us for The Night They Saved Christmas (1984) - An oil company is
exploring two Arctic sites for oil. The needed blasting at the first site rocks Santa Claus' North Pole
village. He realizes that any blasting at the second site will destroy his home. He enlists the aid of
a woman and her children to convince her husband (who works for the company) that the first site
is where the oil they want is. Along the way, Santa explains all his secrets in delivering presents
all around the world. Stars Jaclyn Smith and Art Carney. Hmm, explosions, greedy oil companies
- yep, it's a Chris Christmas! We will try a new place following the movie, Bensi Restaurant, right
up the road from the library. Bensi, 387 Washington Avenue (next to Kings), Hillsdale, NJ 07642;
201.722.8881Italian-type variety: pizza, salads, chicken fingers, pasta, fish/seafood, etc. Go to
www.bensirestaurants.com to view the menu.

This group meets on the second Monday of each month to discuss a specific mystery, horror, or
intrigue novel. This month's selection is Poltergeist by Kat Richardson. This is a follow-up to
Greywalker, the May Suspense Central selection. Harper Blaine was your average small-time
PI until she died-for two minutes. Now she's a Greywalker walking the thin line between the
living world and the paranormal realm. And she's discovering that her new abilities are landing
her all sorts of "strange" cases. In the days leading up to Halloween, Harper's been hired by a
university research group that is attempting to create an artificial poltergeist. The head
researcher suspects someone is faking the phenomena, but Harper's investigation reveals
something else entirely-they've succeeded. And when one of the group's members is killed in a
brutal and inexplicable fashion, Harper must determine whether the killer is the ghost itself, or
someone all too human. Richardson's view of the paranormal has a nice technological twist
and features intriguing historical notes that lift this whodunit a cut above the average
supernatural thriller. There will be a change in both time (earlier 7:30 start) & location to Panera
Community Room, Panera Bread Restaurant, for this month due to holiday crowds at Borders.
