This group meets on the first Tuesday of each month to view SF and other genre related films.
This month's movie is Happiness of the Katakuris (2001) from Takashi Miike. The Katakuri
family has just opened their guest house in the mountains. Unfortunately their first guest commits
suicide and in order to avoid trouble they decide to bury him in the backyard. Things get way more
complicated when their second guest, a famous sumo wrestler, dies while staying there and the
grave behind the house starts to fill up more and more. From prolific Japanese cult director Miike
Takashi comes an all-singing, all-dancing zombie horror flick. The story centres on recently
retrenched Masao Katakuri who has decided to take over a bed and breakfast on a piece of land
he bought which was originally a rubbish dump in a remote mountain area near Mountain Fuji.
Seville Diner or Bensi Restaurant follows the movie (approx. 9:10 to 10:30, sometimes later).

This group meets on the third Tuesday of each month to discuss the major works of the greatest
authors of Science Fiction, Fantasy, Horror, and related genres. This month we will be discussing
the works of Sergei Lukyanenko with the featured selections being Nightwatch, DayWatch,
TwilightWatch. Living among us are the "Others," an ancient race of humans with supernatural
powers who must swear allegiance to either the Dark or the Light. A thousand-year treaty has
maintained the balance of power between the two sides, but when a renegade Other absconds
with a fabled book of spells and appears intent on using it to alter the course of humanity, the
forces of Light and Dark must cooperate to stop him. In a world where reality and magic

This group meets on the 4th Friday of each month to discuss various works of "modern" masters
or upcoming talent in SF, fantasy, paranoramal and related genres. This month is The Demon &
the City: A Detective Inspector Chen Novel by Liz Williams. The sequel to Snake Agent (2005)
returns to Singapore Three, a twenty-first-century cityscape renowned for its ready access to the
denizens of heaven and hell. While Detective Inspector Wei Chen takes a brief hiatus from his
customary paranormal investigations, his underworld sidekick, vice-squad-specialist Zhu Irzh,
stumbles on a tricky case involving the apparently demonic murder of a beautiful young woman.
Fantasy enthusiasts looking for something uniquely imaginative will find it in Williams' surreal
